I guess the 17 files are the ones listed in https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/archive/3.1_r6a/i386/iso-cd/SHA256SUMS Obviously the checksum of the netinst ISO was not recorded in that file. If you want a verified ISO, then you will probably have to download debian-31r6a-i386-binary-1.iso via Jigdo from https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/archive/3.1_r6a/i386/jigdo-cd/ which is listed in https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/archive/3.1_r6a/i386/jigdo-cd/SHA256SUMS Andrew Latham wrote: > I would raise the point that ALL the checksums are incorrect and the 8 > year date range is at issue. Indeed. It seems that the checksums were touched in 2016 whereas the ISOs are of 2008. Possibly there were no SHA256SUMS files in 2008. Also it seems that "netinst" was quite a novelty back then. It does not exist in https://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/archive/3.0_r*/i386/*-cd/ where i only see MD5SUMS files. Have a nice day :) Thomas
