In discussions about my previous email on configuring new drives it was
mentioned that custum builds of Debian can be done with preseeding and
other tools. I am looking at doing that in order to set up some inexpensive
laptops for a computer classroom or lab, probably in a local church or
library.

(If you don't think this list is for asking for advice, please just say so
without a lecture.)

Can anyone give advice or pointers on how best to do that with my existing
PC? It runs only Debian, has lots of memory and disk space, and several USB
ports.

In the old days I used a burned CD OR DVD disk as the boot medium, and I
still have a portable one usable with a USB connection. But I would rather
create the image on a portable memory device with USB connection. I have
several old ones of various sizes, speeds, and power provisions. But I am
happy to buy a new device if such is suggested.

I would most likely create the image at home and take it to whatever
facility I can get access to for installing it on the receiving devices.

I would like to use inexpensive new laptops that come with Windows
preinstalled, but I know that can be a problem these days: I have no
interest in double OS setups even if that's still possible--not worth the
hassle. I have no Windows devices in my home.

Opions and suggestions appreciated.

Best regards,

-Tom
