Hi, I think the answer is yes. I do not know anything about this package
except what I have written here.
After bookworm, the source package 'gftp' does not build the binary
package ''gftp-gtk' [1].
The Debian changelog latest entry for the source package says [2]:
Drop gftp-gtk. (Closes: #967390)
Bug #967390 [3] explains why.
Per [1], it looks like you can still install 'gftp-text' in trixie [4], forky
and sid.
