Hi there,

How to compile kernel 2.6.1 in Debian way? Can
somebody point me at a good doco?

Try http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/system/kernel-pkg.html

What are the requirements to install kernel 2.6.1? The
gcc, etc?

The make-kpkg stuff seems to work quite well, but donīt use the
append-to-version parameter, there are problems when trying to install
additional modules that donīt come with the kernel.

I've been usng 2.6 kernels for a while now, and the append-to-version
has not caused me any problems.

Otherwise, youīll need the module-init-tools package and some other
tools at relatively recent versions. Have a look at the kernel
documentation for this, itīs in the Documentation/Changes file.
