Since the subject of browsers on phones has come up I thought I'd put in
my 2 bits.  I've been using DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine for
years and have found that it's gradually been improving to the point that
I seldom have cause to use any other.  Along the way I discovered that
they also make a browser.  They make it for all the MS and Apple computers
and for both Apple and Android phones.  Since Android is the only one of
those that I use, I can't vouch for it on any other platform, but on
android it very rapidly became my favorite browser.  It's faster, in my
experience, than Firefox, which I mostly used before, and it blocks
everything that I'd want to block both coming down and also going back to
the website.  It also has a builtin video player which plays Youtube
videos without ads and it blocks your viewing history from getting back to
google to be used for personalized advertizing.  I don't know how they get
away with it or how long it will last, but for now it's far and away the
best android browser, in my opinion.  It's not free software, it's a
for-profit company, but the company makes it's reputation on protecting
privacy and I think they do a good job.  And anyway, if you use android
you probably use a lot of other non-free software.
