> help i have an onboard sound card ac97 1. Load the right driver. First, try to install some 2.4 Kernel image if you didn't do that already. Probably the 2.2 Kernel won't support your card. Search the list archive on how to do that. You can read it at <http://lists.debian.org> or <http://groups.google.com> (Group linux.debian.user). 2. Add yourself to the audio group. 2. Run lcpci to find out more about your card. There are plenty of AC97 onboard audio chips by different manufacturers like VIA, SIS or Intel. Find out the name of your chipset. Go to <http://groups.google.com> and enter the information there together with some words like "linux driver" or "linux module". 3. After you found out which driver to use, add it to /etc/modules with some text editor. Or add alias sound-slot-0 yourdriverhere to /etc/modutils/aliases and run update-modules. 4. Install some program like kmix (kde) or aumix (command line) to set the volume for your card. It may be muted by default. best regards Andreas Janssen -- Andreas Janssen [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP-Key-ID: 0xDC801674 Registered Linux User #267976 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
