I have two answers (which might not be good answers, if so someone may be able
to correct me)
1) For some time now yt-dlp has been unable to download videos which I wanted
to download.
If you're on Debian Stable, please be aware that the version of yt-dlp
(2023.03.04-1) is really ancient and not feasible with YouTube as of today.
You need to install more recent version from bookworm-backports and keep it
up-to-date.
Thank you for that info.
# apt -t bookworm-backports install yt-dlp youtubedl-gui
And now I can successfully download videos from YouTube, either from command
line or GUI.
yt-dlp --version
2025.01.15
What does yours show?
(also, I note, for me to try next time, --write-auto-subs)
..
