To be fair, HP-UX did not have the concept of disk partitions. There was no msdos or gpt. Just "use the entire disk" or "use LVM on the disk". So, you always ended up using LVM. But yeah, it was definitely one of the better HP-UX features. The Linux version is based directly on it (with extensions).
