I believe, the original poster meant, if he clicks on an *.odt file, then he expects libreoffice to be started.
This is a feature of the windowmanager he is using. To help him, we should know, which windowmanager (KDE, Gnome, XFCE whatever) he is using, as each wm jhas its own settings. Hans
