Darn. Without seeing your settings, and being unfamiliar with this kind of set up, I can't verify why it works for me, but not you. Since you are comfortable using VMs, maybe try a new set up in a VM with minimal tweaks and see if you can reproduce there? No profile syncing with FF, no copying over of XFCE config files (at least at first). Maybe it will help point out some esoteric setting we've overlooked? mrc
