In my experience Brother printers do work O.K. on Linux.
Other manufacturers rebadge Brother so my Fuji Xerox is actually a Brother.
The problem will be when you try and match the printer with CUPS. In my
case I had to specify a Brother printer in CVUPS to get my Fuji-Xerox to
work properly.
Probably a normal Brother printer will have no problems.
