Yes, they are: somebody did something wrong on your suystem. Odds it was

The Raid was built with Debian 9 using the usual tools, mdadm. It has run
smoothly ever since. I recently installed Debian 12 on the box. The
installation process discovered the existing Raid and asked for the mount
points. It continued to run smoothly. I have never had to change or re-assign
the drives.
I do not fiddle with UUIDs, ever. So if someone did something wrong, it was
mdadm in Debian 9 or the Debian 12 installation. As I said, I do not mess with
UUIDs.
