Thanks. I had tried looking at the changelog, but Synaptic and apt were unable to find it. Okay. After some poking around, I now see a couple ways to get at the changelog. One is the copy in /usr/share/doc/<pkgname>/changelog.Debian.gz. The other is via the news item for the update, in tracker.debian.org. thanks, mike
