Monkey see, monkey do applies in the competitive field of motherboard manufacturing. Most computers with 3.x USB have also 2.0 ports. 3.x has a manufacturing cost that 1.x and 2.0 devices have no use for, such as rodents and keyboards. So, usually there are at least two 2.0 ports provided, commonly on both front and rear, while 3.x may be on rear only. > * With the adapter labeled USB 2.0, why is connection to a USB 3 > socket necessary to boot the external system? The two socket types have some differing electrical characteristics even though type A seems otherwise identical between 2.0 and 3.x. A type 3.x device requires 3.x characteristics be on the connected bus whether adapter is employed or not. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
