Where exactly are you getting this error message? During the
installation process? During boot, either of the Debian installer
(d-i), or of the installed system?

What exactly is the error message? A paraphrase does us little good.
what other messages did you see?

You can recover logs from an installation. During installation, they
are available at /var/log/. After installation, at /var/log/installer/.
