I just downloaded 2.6.1 and checked. Yes the 2.6.0.test9 in debian has mutiline asm where as the 2.6.1 source from kernel.org does not. So, it is time for me to go to 2.6.1. Thanks for following it up to the end for me. If you do not mind, I have one other doubt. I usually do not use kernal-package to install new kernels.
