Update: FWIW, Debian Developer Ben Hutchings actually assigned this issue a "grave" severity, and it was ultimately moved to the initramfs-tools package. It's now fixed: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1076561 -- Celejar
