In general, a lot of things will break when the file system that holds
your home directory is completely full, which appears to be the case
for you. If that is also the / (root) file system, then even more
things are likely to break for the same reason.

If you can log in as root, then try doing that to either delete or
move some things out of the way; specifically, to a different file
system. If you can't do that (for example, because you never set up a
root password, or because that login also fails in a similar way), you
will need to boot from some kind of rescue or live media to access the
file system through there to do the same thing. The Debian graphical
live DVD/USB image should be usable for the purpose and can be
downloaded from <https://www.debian.org/CD/live/>; obviously you will
need another computer to do that in this case.

Logging in through a text terminal (press Ctrl+Alt+F2, Ctrl+Alt+F3 and
so on up through Ctrl+Alt+F7 until you get to a text "login:" prompt,
then use your normal username and password to log in) is likely to
work better than logging in to a graphical session, but of course
requires that you feel comfortable deleting files through the shell.
