I don't think it matters. If you have DNS you shouldn't have the machines IP mapping in the hosts file at all. Only localhost and convienence mappings for other hosts. If you /don't/ have DNS then you probably just have one or two PCs in your house in which case you should put whatever you need in there to just make it work.
