To my defense, I said then (and repeat now) that I don't recommend it as a permanent fix, rather as a debugging tool. The next step would be to go to the logs and see which software is complaining. Then you know which man pages to hit :-) Leaving "chattr +i" behind in /etc at random spots will come back to shoot you painfully in the foot (e.g. at the next system upgrade, when you'll have forgotten about it).
