This should go into the KDE forums, I know, but as intelligent of a human
as I am, I am unable to figure out how to post a question there. So knowing
the Debianistas are incredibly resourceful, I thought I'd ask here.

I've just set up a test box, running Debian 12, fairly minimal install,
with only KDE Plasma and a few other pieces added in.

I wanted to give KMail a spin (it never has worked well for me because of
my GMail accounts authenticating through SSO stuff, which I've never been
able to figure out), and to start off with I figured I'd limit it to just
one non-GMail account, a Yahoo!Mail account I have. (The Yahoo!Mail account
works fine with Thunderbird (which I added to test the account, after not
getting it to work with KMail.))

So I created a new Debian user (so there'd be no cruft that might get in
the way) and logged out of KDE/Debian as my usual user and logged in as my
new user (via sddm login screen).

I then fired up KMail, and the account-creation wizard began. I filled in
my Yahoo!Mail account info, and when I got near the end, it popped up a
window wanting a GMail account to which Akonadi needed permission.

I don't *really* understand how Akonadi fits into Kmail/Yahoo, but, meh; my
real question is: Does anyone here know if KMail *requires* a Gmail account
to access a non-Gmail email account (and if so, that seems really stupid)?
If not, how do I get around this failing new-account wizard issue?

Thanks!
