Later, i ran into several problems, which turned out to be caused by /tmp running out of space. After some investigation, i found the sweet spot, where i did not need to remount /tmp with bigger size any longer, and all of my task were happy. (And i was happy, that i could provide so much RAM temporarily, tmpfs doesnt eat up more than what is actually required.) For my application, that sweet spot turned out to be at size=45G. This config is still in my fstab and the system behaves fine since.
