take a look at the files in /var/log/apt history should tell you what was updated last and you could try to install a previous version of what changed to see which caused the problem. depending upon how you run your updates you may not have any previous versions of debs available in /var/cache/apt/archives to try but you can get them via snapshot.debian.org. songbird
