If you have multiple hard drives you may need to change hd0, but at first it is necessary to change partition from msdos1 to msdos4 or gpt4. It depends on partition types (label): DOS MBR or GPT.
Grub command line allows to try various variants interactively and to boot installer without modifying of the config file.
