You can change debug logging level. Edit ~/.gnupg/dirmngr.conf file and
write something like this:
debug-level expert #or: guru
log-file /tmp/dirmngr-log.txt
Then kill dirmngr
$ gpgconf --kill dirmngr
and try key servers again. See the log file mentioned above.
