I'm talking mostly about the server software needed.
To make it more acceptable by a larger group of people, you could make it so that on the client side, a simple terminal window could be used.
I have not used MUD for about 25 years, back in my Windows days. I used to use a MUD room for holding meetings. It made the meetings a bit more interesting. :-)
