for accessing content of Android phones MTP protocol has to be supported.
In former Android versions phones supported mounting as drives but these
times are long gone.

Currently I am not using any Debian rather since Fedora. Here I have libmtp
and gvfs-mtp installed. Same or similar packages you should need in Debian
too.
 libmtp supports the MTP protocol. and the other package is for connecting
libmtp to your file manager. Since I am using XFCE + thunar your milage may
vary also in this respect.
