Hi Jacob I'm no guru but have been sweating over printer installation recently and I know how frustrating it can be. I've used the KDE3.1 control centre to install printers but it sometimes won't seem to accept the root password - I've found logging in through a browser to http://localhost:631/admin to be a more reliable way to install a printer.
