I believe I've run into this in the past, though I can't find my own post on the topic. IIRC, there's a hardcoded limit somewhere in X to the number of clients which can connect. Quickly scanning Google Groups suggests it's 127. One possibility is that you've got a client which is poorly behaved and is spawning a number of instances which X is treating as independent clients. There are some tools to view and list clients, though they don't come to me off the top of my head. Peace. -- Karsten M.
