an other solution is "getmail", available as a debian package, and also, I suppose, with other distribs. I'm using it since several years, and is very happy with the way it works. It puts the incoming mail in a directory, and it's then easy to run a filter script, to remove spams. best regards, -- Pierre Frenkiel
