Step 1: Forget about Varnish. Uninstall it. Step 2: Install https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/ Step 3: Configure it. Step 4: Remove any JavaScript, ads, trackers, web-fonts, large images, etc. You should be good at that point. -dsr-
