Researching for signs of any Perl Mongers groups near one's location might help. What I've seen of them over a LONG period of time is that they can be a very supportive group. For either source, Users do have to have at least tried to work through things on their own via online tutorials and books such as those David has suggested. Having said that: Maybe some creative searching using the word "beginner" and Perl lists might land something handy, too. In that case, it's not about the "beginner" aspect. It's about finding a place that dedicates itself to breaking things down to the absolute bottom base step upon which ALL the rest is then built.
