I've never had much of a problem running Debian on Dell laptops. Right now, Buster is (reasonably) happy on my Dell Latitude 5414. Sound works, DVD player works, etc. The BIOS is a bit odd -- it's the size of gcc; you have to set it to legacy and figure out what it's talking about. I did, anyway... -- Glenn English
