But someone claimed it worked for wheezy so I used the kernel "net.ifnames=0", which worked well while I played with cables trying to determine which of the interface cards, or all 3, that I needed to order. 3.3 volt fpga's are a bit fragile when mother nature is playing with fireworks. :(
