<Sorry, a good diversion for a Sunday morning when I should be doing other things.> I disagree, now that I think about it. I remember Lisa, and I know there have been great advances in AI (e.g., neural networks, ...) What a stroke of genius by the programmer -- they give "Gene" this amazing backstory and history, and then intentionally have him inject portions of the (back)stories in his emails to make him seem like a cantankerous old man. Then he posts problems on the list that no real computer intelligence would experience, just as part of the experiment to see how many and for how long he can fool people on this list. How could we doubt that he is human? I wonder when the big reveal will occur? <all tongue in cheek (and thanks to tomas, I now know what the emoticon for that is, or rather, I now know what the funny emoticon I see that I never bothered to look up means -- I might start using it, after I look it up to remind myself -- ahh: ;-P > > > No human is even > > good enough to be like Gene.
