Absolutely Andy. But from the argument thread my original post generated, there are IMO, quite a few who have become addicted to the koolaid. And thats not a good thing. Theodore T. has been right waaaaayy more than he's been wrong. Raspian is usually not more than a day or so behind debian, and differ in that they assemble a ready to run image using the same code base, perhaps with some additional non-free stuff to make the hardware work a bit better. Point being that in the case of my original problem, the software in the middle of the discussion differed only in the object it was compiled for, and the source probably remains byte for byte identical. But I must say even I was surprised by the near total bailout when I mentioned that it was raspian. Obviously in retrospect, there is bad blood?
