If you are at the end of your rope, you might try this.
cd /  #(as root)
mkdir /install
cd install
find 'zzzz' /* | tee /install/files
grep plptools-kde /install/files | less
then rm (every instance in less).  Then maybe you can reinstall. No
guarantee thou.
