One of the things I do with an SSD is turn down "swappiness" to a minimum. In /etc/sysctl.d/custom.conf I put the following lines: vm.swappiness = 0 vm.vfs_cache_pressure = 40 vm.dirty_background_ratio = 10 vm.dirty_ratio = 40 There are also a bunch of networking defaults for IPv4 and v6 for security and simplicity, but this is about SSD wear and swap space. A swap partition that is simply never written to never wears out. I also put in ramdisk options for /tmp in /etc/fstab in order to reduce disk writes.
