Hi folks,.

I am following this thread a little bit. As I got a new soundcard for my
netbook today (the old one was broken), I discovered also the "no sound"
issue. A quick check in Windows and a linux livefile system, told me, that the
new sound card is working again (the old one was indeed physically broken!)
and the problem appears only in debian/testing.

IO know that this message is late, but due to the broken hardware I discovered
the issue just today.

However, as written before, stopping the timidity process let sound work again
(thanks for this hint).

I looked, but I did not find a bugreport against timidity in the reportlist,
or is there one, which is related to this? At the momemnt I stop timidity
manually as a workaround, no problem. Looks like uninstalling timidity is not
a good idea.

Please, if there is a bugreport, a clue might be nice.

Best regards

Hans
