Ok, now I got it working with Stretch finally.
I had to upgrade the Kernel and of course the firmware.
Now the display manager loads as it supposed to.
The only thing is that it seems running rather slow, I have to see what
might be causing slow access to HDDs.
 Anyway, now I have something I can work with.
