So I rebooted today and no sound card is set up. It was working as recently as a couple of hours before. I had just done a full-upgrade.

I happen to be a fairly experienced Debian guy, so I tried modprobe snd_hda_intel Lo and behold, sound was back. So why did this particular reboot result in that module not auto-loading?
