This specific error message is always the sign of a severe bug in the program. One that leaves 0 confidence in said program. If it comes from you backup program, it is entirely possible your backups have been toast for a long time. Whether you manage to restore them or not (I cannot help you for that, sorry), you should probably look for another backup program immediately after the situation is stabilized.
