It is worth noting that local access to the /dev/sr* device does not depend on being a member of the cdrom group, Using 'ls -l': brw-rw----+ root cdrom 11, 0 June 30 11:15 /dev/sr0 The "+" is a result of 70-uaccess.rules in /lib/udev/rules.d. It indicates an Access Control List (ACL). The installer has always put the first user into the cdrom group. It is questionable whether this is necessary any more. -- Brian.
