It does seem Firefox is taking a strange direction, hopefully they come back around.

It could be that they've decided the functionality is better handled as an add-on, since one seems to exist. However, I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work either. In the preferences I'd selected "at startup 'Show my windows and tabs from last time'" and "at shutdown 'backup the current session'" but I just got the default start page when I restarted Firefox.

I then tried the settings button | History | Restore Closed Windows and noticed that it actually opened 3 new Firefox windows. One was a duplicate single-tab startup session, another was an earlier session and the third was the session I'd just closed. So I apparently just need to close extra windows....
