I'm sorry that this doesn't move you closer to an immediate solution, but do you really need to be using Sid? The words "sid", "critical" and "desperate", close together in the same sentence or close to it, is a little bit of a red flag... If you have truly critical processes / work stuff that you have to get done, sid wouldn't seem like the place to do it. Jessie is still pretty functional you know... I run stretch on boxes I don't mind breaking occasionally and Jessie on those I do. I have neither a compelling reason to use sid nor the time to devote to fixing it when it breaks, interesting learning experience though that would be. (and why do I capitalise Jessie and not stretch or sid? Who knows?) Of course no reason you shouldn't run sid if you want to, but not for critical stuff... Mark
