This may seem like a weird question, but is the 3Com EtherLink III (3c509) ISA NIC not supported under Knoppix? I just booted up my hardware testing system, which uses a 3c905, and Knoppix failed to detect the NIC. I know this card works, because I also have Win-98SE on this same system, as well as the latest Debian install, and both of them recognize the NIC just fine.
Everything else in the system seems to operate happily under Knoppix (though I can't seem to eject the Knoppix CD in order to try out an audio CD), just the NIC itself doesn't get recognized, and running netcardconfig seems to confirm this, as it returns the following error message: "No supported network cards found." Oh, and thanks to the guys I chatted with on one of the Debian IRC channels last night (if you'se guys are subscribed to this list). I still didn't get XFree86 to work right, but I do have a better idea of what I'm doing now. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo!
