Thank you, everyone! You have given me enough ammo to actually turn some guru heads! They like both FAI and systemimager. They are impressed with the speed of the security releases. My last hurdle is finding out which applications have been ported (by our programmers) over to RH, and seeing if they will run on Debian.
Jesse, your crystal ball is quite accurate. We are using 7.3 (we like to avoid the "*.0" releases from RH), and were preparing to upgrade when we heard the news. I'm not sure of what they were planning on doing between January and April, but the total cost of licensing is well outside our budget- $15,000 for the advanced server alone. They have an anti-GUI philosophy (something about a waste of resources?), which was one of the reasons they asked about Debian. In fact, the ONLY reason for using RH from the start was the applications that the programmers needed. It's now down to SuSE and Debian...
