What do you expect to see in the circled areas? At what point do text characters "disappear," or do they never appear in the first place? It looks like you're running the "top" command inside of gnome-terminal. On my system, while running "top" inside of gnome-terminal, the terminal's title bar displays "louis@electron: ~" where "louis" is my username, "electron" is my computer's hostname, and "~" is my current directory. Is this the same on your computer?
