There is writing too much and writing a lot. I talk too much. You write a lot. In Latin too much and very much are the same word. In case any modern language does the same thing, Bob is saying that sometimes people think he writes a lot more than is necessary or helpful. Bob doesn't write too much. He writes very much, very lucidly. I wish that I could be half as lucid or, in fact, half as succinct.
