I put a # in front of 2 of the lines as I think you suggested in order to comment them out but I am still getting the same problem. I have pasted the sources.list file below as it currently is. I am very new to vi and I did not know how to delete characters (I wanted to delete the first # which I think I must have put there by a mistake. I imagine it does no harm?)
